Two Finished Projects

In my last post I showed the little shirt I made for Sophie. Here is a picture of the completed ensemble! The tutu was a breeze to make! She and Harper have loved wearing it and twirling around the house. With a little raffia and sunflowers hot glued on an old headband, she was an adorable little girl!

A few weeks ago I posted a picture of the girl sock monkey applique. Sophie's teacher just had a set of twins, one boy and one girl, so I was able to make use of both appliques! Doing little projects like this makes me want a boy too so we could do the boy/girl thing. Then I hear my three little girls and realize I have PLENTY of people to sew for in this house! The little initialed items are bottle koozies. I can only imagine they would come in quite handy with twins!

Scarecrow Day

Sophie has Scarecrow Day at school this week. This is where all the Kindergarteners are supposed to look around their house and find things that will make them look like a scarecrow, and wear it to school. They get to parade around the school and then have a cute snack. Sounds simple, right? Well, as I learned on Circus Day, the kids(and parents) go ALL out on costumes. So instead of buying overalls and a long stick for Sophie to be attached to something, I got some cheap fabric. I made her a fabric tutu and then got a stained tee and made this little shirt!

I think with a little raffia, a fake scarecrow, and a sunflower in her hair she will be adorable! I will post pictures of her parade.

a few little animals

Here are my latest bird, elephant and monkey! I probably have 5 or 6 different designs of each of these animals, but each year I get suckered into getting a new one! Here are my attempts at my newest three....

I'm BAACCCKKK!

After three months of making my machine a dust collector, I am starting up my holiday fun time! I love this time of year with all the cute shirt/towels/gift ideas that come from embroidery, so I decided I should update this blog with a few of the newer things I have done lately!

Even just sewing for me I have been busy, but I have done several baby gifts lately. This monogram was for a little girl. I liked it so much I made our newest little girl one as well!

This design is SO cute! It is a great Halloween time shirt that can be worn anytime, as long as you like a certain movie...

I have done this owl three times in the past few weeks for different people... owls are IN!

And, the reason the blog remained empty for so long.... my sweet girls' first set of matching shirts!

I did this tea cup on a burp cloth, with all three fabrics being used in different onesies. It was a cute gift!

Appliques for Summer

A friend asked me to do a few shirts for some upcoming summer events. Below are what I turned out for her. By the way, I apologize in advance for upside down photos. For some reason I cannot get these figured out tonight, and I am just going to post them anyway! :)

This shirt is for a little boy who is attending his Uncle's graduation from the Navy. I wanted to find a ship to do, but non looked "Navy" enough for me, so Anchors Aweigh it is! His little sister is getting the heart applique with a star inside, made out of the same seersucker material. I have sewn this before, so I believe it is in my photos already.

And here are the upside down photos. These are for a vacation at the lake. I absolutely LOVE this canoe applique! After I did the little boy's I tried to find the sister a different applique that would coordinate, but the canoe turned out even cute for a girl, in my opinion. I have to do these for my two (soon to be three) as well!

Crazy for Seersucker

Tonight it seems I was sticking to only seersucker fabric! Besides a few rabbit shirts for Easter, here are some cute new designs I played with tonight.

This is a baby gift for a first girl. Knowing she has TONS of pink stuff already, I pulled more of the green color from the tri-color stripe seersucker. This picture is way dark, but this is an adorable fabric!

These are two shirts I did for my girls. I made them both a pair of shorts last week, and just getting around to making the tops. Again, bad pictures, but you get the idea!

Finally, this is NOT seersucker, but a twirl skirt I made! If you have spent more than ten minutes with my girls, you know their love for twirly things. Sophie saw this skirt in a book, and asked for it. I obliged and made it! It turned out well enough she wears it to school. It is about 85 charm squares sewn together. It was totally not rocket science, and pretty easy to assemble. She may have one in varying themes in a few weeks!

Girly Spring Designs

My friend Jenn and I had a sew fest tonight, making shorts and pants to match some shirts we had. Here are a few new designs I did:

This is an adorable applique! This is going to a little girl's tutu themed party. I also did a matching monogrammed tutu swimsuit. I may have to do this little beach towel for my own girls!
